Seeking Enthusiastic Residents for the LEADER Achterhoek Local Action Group (LAG) (4–8 hours per month)
As a proud resident of the Achterhoek, would you like to contribute to our beautiful region? Then seize this opportunity to join the team that promotes and strengthens grassroots innovation in our rural area. The LAG is looking for a passionate person to help take residents’ initiatives to new heights with support from LEADER—a European grant program for rural development. We are seeking resident members for the municipalities of Aalten, Winterswijk, and Oude IJsselstreek.

As a member of the LAG, you will work alongside other enthusiastic members and the LEADER coordinator, forming the beating heart of LEADER Achterhoek. Your mission is to support and connect initiatives by residents, community organizations, and entrepreneurs that enhance the quality of life in rural areas.
The LAG consists of 18 members: 8 resident members (one resident from each municipality), 3 representatives from interest groups, 3 administrative advisors, 2 administrative representatives, 1 advisor representing the Achterhoek Food platform, and the LEADER coordinator. The municipalities participating in the LEADER program are: Aalten, Berkelland, Bronckhorst, Doetinchem, Lochem, Oost Gelre, Oude IJsselstreek, and Winterswijk.
What will you be doing?
- Assisting project initiators with project applications.
- Actively seeking new forms of collaboration.
- Sharing results and experiences within the network.
- Collaborate with other LAG members to discuss the LEADER program and ongoing projects, and to evaluate new applications.
Activities: LAG members meet at least ten times a year in the evenings. You will discuss the progress of the LEADER program and various project initiatives. You will make decisions regarding new grant applications. In addition, the LAG organizes meetings and field trips to share knowledge and experience. The time commitment is approximately four to eight hours per month, with flexible peaks and troughs. This is an unpaid position; however, an attendance allowance may be available for meetings.
Who are we looking for?
- You have a broad interest in rural development, including quality of life, youth, agriculture, tourism, heritage, and so on.
- You live in Winterswijk, Aalten, or Oude IJsselstreek
- You are a resident who has demonstrated a commitment to the community
- You are preferably active in community life
- You have an extensive network in rural areas
- You are proactive, have a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude, and believe that 1 + 1 often equals three.
