City Council

The municipal council is the highest governing body of the municipality; it sets the general policy of the municipality, oversees the mayor and aldermen, and represents the residents of the municipality of Aalten. The City Council is elected by the residents. The municipality of Aalten has 21 council members. Council members from the same political party form a caucus within the council. There are currently 6 caucuses represented in the Aalten City Council. The mayor serves as chair of the municipal council. The council is assisted by the clerk.
