The municipality of Aalten is located at the edge of the Achterhoek, close to the German border. Our inhabitants (about 27,000) residence and life in the main centers Aalten and Dinxperlo, in the fortified town of Bredevoort or in one of the small centers and hamlets, each with their own unique character. It is quiet and rural living, with the necessary amenities within easy reach. The municipality of Aalten has a village-like but lively character. There is a great social cohesion. The municipality has a rich history and has much cultural and religious heritage.

The more than 200 employees of the Municipality of Aalten continuously work on developing and maintaining a pleasant living, working, and recreational environment. Due to the relatively small organization, communication lines are short, and an open and informal atmosphere prevails. Employees are encouraged to take responsibility and develop themselves.
