Exhibition: foster care through the eyes of foster youth
From January 27 to February 5, the library in Aalten will host the exhibition Foster Care Through the Eyes of Foster Youth. Here, foster youth will show who they are and how they experience foster care through artwork they have created themselves.

The exhibition highlights the world of foster care in Gelderland, where more than 50 children are looking for a foster family. Sometimes this involves a few days a month (part-time foster care), sometimes seven days a week (full-time foster care). At the same time, visitors also get a glimpse into the lives of children who have already found a lovingsecondhome.
Opening
The exhibition will open on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., at the Achterhoekse Poort library in Aalten. The opening will be performed by Alderman van Lochem. During the opening, and on Wednesday, February 4, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., a foster parent and foster care worker will be present to talk to visitors and answer questions.
About the exhibition
Through their artwork, foster children give visitors a glimpse into their lives. The exhibition shows what foster care means and invites reflection: "How can you make a difference in someone else's child's life?"
