Information for refugees from Ukraine
We ask refugees staying with family or a host family in our municipality to report to the municipality as soon as possible. This can be done simply by sending an email to: goo@aalten.nl. People from Ukraine must register in the Personal Records Database (BRP) as residents of the Netherlands. We have already started this process. Refugees known to the municipality will be contacted to make an appointment for registration.

Are you a Ukrainian refugee living in the municipality of Aalten? After registering with the municipality, you can receive living expenses. From May 1, you can apply for this at Laborijn. For more information, visit the Laborijn website. www.laborijn.nl/oekraine. Until May 1, Figulus Welzijn will arrange the living expenses.

Up-to-date information in Ukrainian, Dutch, Russian, and English is available at www.forrefugees.nl. You will find answers to questions such as:
- What should I do if I want to see a doctor?
- Should I apply for asylum?

- Where can I go with my pet?
In the municipality of Aalten, a great deal of information has also been compiled in an 'information sheet' that informs those involved (host families, buddies, and others) about local agreements.
On the website Nederland Wereldwijd you can find all kinds of questions and answers about (the situation in) Ukraine, for example about traveling to and from Ukraine, staying in the Netherlands, passports, and visas.
Prevent human trafficking and exploitation
Refugees are at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking and exploitation. Many people offer help, but unfortunately not everyone can be trusted. For more information, see the brochure on the CoMensha website in Dutch, Ukrainian, and English.
Contact number for the Immigration and Naturalization Service
The Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) has set up a special telephone number for people from Ukraine in the Netherlands who have questions. The telephone number is: (088) 043 04 30. Select option 9 for a shorter waiting time. English and Dutch are spoken.
Air raid siren test
Every first Monday of the month at 12:00 noon, the Dutch government tests the air raid siren. The air raid siren sounds for 1 minute and 26 seconds. This means that there is no danger and you do not need to take any action. If the sirens sound longer and several times in succession, there is an emergency situation. You must immediately go indoors and close all windows and doors.
