Draft Public Housing Program
“Suitable housing for everyone”
The municipality wants everyone in Aalten to have a good place to live. That is why the Municipal Executive has adopted the draft Public Housing Program. This draft outlines how we will work in the coming years to provide sufficient, affordable, and suitable housing for our residents.

The Public Housing Program outlines the decisions we are making regarding housing for the coming years. In doing so, we consider not only housing itself, but also how it relates to Health, well-being, and quality of life in neighborhoods and villages.
The municipality aims to increase the housing supply and reduce the housing shortage. We are doing this not only by building new homes, but also by focusing on affordability, sustainability, and mobility in the housing market. In doing so, we are looking explicitly to the future: what kind of housing will we need in the future?
Customized Living
Because we all live, work, and age in different ways, we make choices that suit the needs of different groups of residents.
Newcomers and young people
We want to add more affordable rental and owner-occupied homes for first-time buyers and young people. The first-time buyer loan will also remain in place. In addition, we are encouraging new housing models, such as shared housing or the subdivision of existing homes.
Older adults and people with care needs
For older adults and people with Health , we want to build more age-friendly housing—homes where people can continue to live comfortably for longer. We are also committed to facilitating mobility, so that people can move to a home that better suits their needs. In addition, we are promoting housing models that Health living and Health .
Focus groups
For people who need extra assistance in finding housing, we are establishing regional agreements on housing and distribution. We are also working on an emergency housing program and appropriate support services.
Middle-income earners and those moving up the ladder
For middle-income earners and those looking to move up the housing ladder, we are focusing on increasing the supply of homes in the mid-range and higher-priced segments. This will help stimulate the housing market and create opportunities for others as well.
