Cleaning up traffic signs in the municipality
The municipality of Aalten will be removing a number of traffic signs and other signage in public spaces in the coming period. We are doing this to make streets clearer, quieter, and safer.

Over the years, many traffic signs have been placed within our municipality. Some of these signs are no longer necessary or create a cluttered street scene. Too many signs can be confusing and distract attention from the signs that are important.
Unnecessary traffic signs
An example of this are the 'dead end'signs (L08). These signs are sometimes placed on streets where only local traffic is allowed, such as residents and visitors. There is virtually no through traffic on such streets. Moreover, many road users nowadays use navigation systems. The fact that someone occasionally turns into the wrong street is no reason to place extra signs everywhere.
Removing safety barriers
Safety barriers that no longer serve a clear purpose will also be removed. Safety barriers are intended to provide temporary warnings of dangerous situations, such as roadworks or obstacles. At intersections in rural areas, these barriers are often unnecessary and can even cause confusion.
The work will be carried out in phases over the coming months. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.
