Municipal tax assessment for 2026

You will receive a single tax assessment notice showing (if applicable): property taxes, waste collection charges, standing charges, and the settlement for the number of collections or emptying of residual waste in 2025. This allows you to see at a glance what you owe the municipality this year.

We are happy to explain the various components.

Property taxes (OZB)

The WOZ value stated on your tax assessment notice is the value of the property as of January 1, 2025. On average, the value of homes in the municipality of Aalten has increased by approximately 10.9% compared to the previous year. The property tax rate has been reduced. For an average home in the municipality of Aalten (WOZ value €383,735), you pay €335 in property tax. That is €6 more than last year.

Garbage tax and disposal of residual waste

The standing charge for waste collection in 2026 has been increased from €129 to €141 per year.
This is because the costs of collecting and processing household waste have risen sharply in recent years. We have been able to prevent significant rate increases each time by using a provision. In addition to the standing charge, in 2025 you will pay €2.45 per household waste bag in the underground container and €14.60 for emptying a container. Your tax assessment notice will show how often you used the waste card for the underground container in 2025 or how often your residual waste container was emptied (for households in rural areas and small communities).

The rates for providing a garbage bag and emptying a container for the year 2026 have also been significantly increased to €2.68 (garbage bag), €9.29 (140-liter container), and €15.96 (240-liter container), respectively. You will only see the settlement for this on your tax bill next year.

Payment

The tax assessment must be paid no later than the last due date to bank account number NL70 BNGH 0285 1142 98. You can transfer it yourself. You can also pay by direct debit. Your tax assessment will then be spread over eight months (or four months if the assessment amount does not exceed €100).

A form authorizing the municipality to automatically collect the tax assessment can be found at www.aalten.nl/machtiging. If you complete the form online, we will automatically collect the 2026 assessment from your account. You will then immediately benefit from the extended payment terms.
