Leaf litter and leaf bins
Starting in early October, we’ll be placing leaf bins at various locations. After December 7, we’ll remove those leaf bins. The leaf bins are intended solely for leaves from municipal trees. They are not for yard waste or pruning trimmings. For those items, you have your own green compost bin. If yard waste or other trash is found in a leaf bin, we will remove that bin (after issuing a warning). We will also remove leaf bins if leaves are left lying next to them. We also often see dog waste bags in the leaf bins. Please do not do this. Dispose of them in the designated dog waste bins. If the bins contain materials other than leaf waste, they cannot be reused.
You can also have the leaves picked up by the municipality
This is possible in the town centers through the end of January 2027. To do so, please gather the leaves into a pile on public property. Please place the pile on a paved surface where a truck can easily access it. To have these piles of leaves picked up, please call the municipality at 0543 49 33 33.
In rural areas as well
In rural areas, we will collect piles of leaves once, through the end of February/beginning of March 2027. You can report locations by calling 0543 49 33 33. Please note! In rural areas, the collection route is not served weekly. If there is any waste other than leaves, we will leave it all behind. If there are still leaves after February 2027, you will need to dispose of them yourself.
As a private citizen, you can also drop off leaf waste yourself for free
You can do this from October 1 through December 19, 2026, at the Aalbers waste management company, located at 2 Zomerweg in Aalten. If you bring only leaf waste there during that period, there is no charge. Check www.aalbersbv.nl for current opening hours. You may be asked to show identification.
