Tree felling
What is it?
It is illegal to cut down a tree or other woody structures without an environmental permit. Very drastic pruning also falls under felling. There are exceptions to the prohibition. In the Kapverordening Gemeente Aalten 2011 are the rules. The felling ordinance also refers to the municipal list of valuable trees. The so-called Valuable Tree List. What to do.
Through the Omgevingsloket online you can check whether you need to apply for an environmental permit. First do the permit check (tab Directly arrange). The Permit Check lets you quickly check whether you need to apply for a permit or make a notification for your activities.

Felling permit application
Complete the digital application form in full.
- The Environment Counter forwards your permit application to the municipality. The municipality handles the application further for you.
- You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt from the municipality.
- After the municipality decides, you will automatically be notified whether you will receive the permit.
If you disagree with the decision on your permit application, you can file an objection with the municipality. Do this within 6 weeks of the announcement of the decision. After that, you may still be able to appeal to the administrative court. In some cases, you can appeal a decision directly to the administrative judge.
Notification felling
Is a notification required for felling? If so, contact the municipality.
Prerequisites:
- The notification must be motivated in writing with a situation sketch by, on behalf of, or with the permission of the owner of the tree.
- The municipality may grant approval to cut down the tree. If approval is granted, the notifier will be notified in writing. After that, the tree can be cut down.
- Notifications are not published. Therefore, there is no opportunity to object.
