Municipality of Aalten Circular

Sustainability plays an important role in the municipality of Aalten. In addition to a Sustainability Plan of Action and annual updates on the results achieved, the subject of circular economy was put on the map in early 2023. The policy document 'Aalten Circular' formulates concrete objectives to achieve a circular economy (in 2050) in the municipality of Aalten.

Circular economy is about how we produce and consume, sharing, renting, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. The goal is to choose the right raw materials and use them for as long as possible in order to combat climate change. Social aspects, such as creating job opportunities for people distanced from the labor market, are also important in an optimal circular economy. All these aspects are highlighted in various examples in the policy paper.

Everyone can do their part to slowly but surely transform the regular economy into a circular economy. That is why the policy paper not only looks at what we can do as a municipality of Aalten, but especially how we can encourage our entrepreneurs, organizations and residents to produce and consume as circularly as possible.

Furthermore, cooperation at the regional level within the Achterhoek Circle Region receives due attention in the policy document.
