Municipality of Aalten Circular

Sustainability plays an important role in the municipality of Aalten. In addition to a Sustainability Action Plan and annual updates on the results achieved, the topic of circular economy was Map on the Map at the beginning of 2023. The policy document 'Aalten Circulair' sets out concrete objectives for achieving a circular economy (by 2050) in the municipality of Aalten.

Circular economy is about how we produce and consume, sharing, renting, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. The goal is to choose the right raw materials and use them for as long as possible in order to combat climate change. Social aspects, such as creating job opportunities for people distanced from the labor market, are also important in an optimal circular economy. All these aspects are highlighted in various examples in the policy paper.

Everyone can contribute to slowly but surely transforming the regular economy into a circular economy. That is why the policy document not only looks at what we as the municipality of Aalten can do, but also, and more importantly, how we can encourage our entrepreneurs, organizations, and residents to produce and consume as circularly as possible.

Furthermore, cooperation at the regional level within the Achterhoek Circle Region receives due attention in the policy document.
