Client Support
What is it?
Client support helps people stay in control of their lives and the help they receive. It is a mix of information, advice and practical help. In principle, client support lasts for a short time. The client support worker helps you solve your problems and arrange help. The goal is for you to be able to continue on your own afterwards.
How does it work?
Who is client support for?
A client is someone who receives Health or help from an agency. Or someone who wants to apply for it. All clients are entitled to free client support. This is stated in the law. The municipality must provide this client support.
Client support is a general facility. That means it is easily accessible. For anyone who needs it. You can ask for support with problems in many areas, such as education, youth care, work, income, Health housing and welfare
What does the client advocate do?
The client support worker can help you decide for yourself about your help or Health. He or she provides information and advice and arranges practical matters. With the municipality and with other agencies. The client supporter stands up for your interests. So that you get the help you need. The client supporter can help with:
- figuring out where the problems are;
- choose what Health or support to provide;
- arrange the right help;
- Matching different types of assistance;
- determine whether the help has worked well.
Free and Independent
The municipality must provide client support. Client support is free for everyone. No own contribution may be charged for client support.The client supporter must work independently. Independent of the municipality, the care office or care providers. Your interests come first.If you feel that your client support worker is not independent, you can report this to the municipality. You may ask for another supporter.
What can you get support for?
You can get support in applying for Health. For example, in applying for:
- Health (Long-Term Health Act).
- Youth Aid
- support from the Wmo (Social Support Act)
- A benefit, for example welfare or Wajong
The client support worker can also help you with the kitchen table interview. Even if you already have an indication for Health , you can get help. For example, in choosing a care provider and making a care plan or budget plan.
