Board approves expansion site for Aalten business park

The Municipal Executive wants to expand the business park in Aalten in a southwesterly direction with new business lots. To make this expansion possible, additional land not owned by the municipality is needed.

The area southwest of the existing business park and north of Keizers Brook is designated for development.

Due to the growing demand for business space, there is a need for new business plots in the municipality
Aalten. Currently, there is almost no available land for local companies, especially from the manufacturing industry, that want to expand. Research shows that there is a need for at least 11 hectares of net business park near the core of Aalten. Keeping these companies within the municipality's boundaries is important for employment, the preservation of facilities and economic growth.

Site survey

The municipality has investigated suitable locations to expand the business park in Aalten. The location study shows that expansion in the southwestern direction of the Aalten core is the most promising. This area is largely enclosed by the existing business park.

Forest plot

The municipality owns the forest plot on the eastern side. For now, the plan is to cut down part of the forest. This will then be amply compensated elsewhere in the municipality.

Right of first refusal

In order to maintain its own control over development of the plan area, the college has established the right of first refusal on the plots of land in the area. This means that owners must first offer their land to the municipality if they want to sell it. Thus, the municipality has "the right of first refusal.
