Council approves expansion location for Aalten industrial park

The municipal executive wants to expand the industrial estate in Aalten in a southwesterly direction with new commercial plots. To make this expansion possible, additional land is needed that is not owned by the municipality.

The area southwest of the existing business park and north of Keizers Brook is designated for development.

Due to the growing demand for commercial space, there is a need for new commercial plots in the municipality of
Aalten. At present, there is virtually no land available for local businesses, particularly those in the manufacturing industry, that wish to expand. Research shows that there is a need for at least 11 hectares of net commercial space near the center of Aalten. Retaining these businesses within the municipality's boundaries is important for employment, the preservation of facilities, and economic growth.

Site survey

The municipality has conducted research into suitable locations for expanding the industrial estate in Aalten. The location study shows that expansion to the southwest of the center of Aalten offers the most promising prospects. This area is largely enclosed by the existing industrial estate.

Forest plot

The municipality owns the forest plot on the eastern side. For now, the plan is to cut down part of the forest. This will then be amply compensated elsewhere in the municipality.

Right of first refusal

In order to maintain its own control over development of the plan area, the college has established the right of first refusal on the plots of land in the area. This means that owners must first offer their land to the municipality if they want to sell it. Thus, the municipality has "the right of first refusal.
