Sustainability Day 2026
On Saturday, September 26, the municipality of Aalten will host its third annual Sustainability Day. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the municipal yard in Aalten and will be entirely dedicated to sustainability. Sustainability Day is held every two years with the goal of informing, inspiring, and getting residents excited about the possibilities in the field of sustainability. Everyone can contribute to a more sustainable future in their own way. Even small steps, when taken together, make a big difference!
There’s plenty to do for all ages, both indoors and outdoors. For example, there will be a lively Sustainability Fair with various booths, as well as a variety of activities and sustainable initiatives to check out. The full program will be announced shortly.
Sustainability Fair
At the Sustainability Fair, residents can learn about various sustainable products, services, and initiatives from the municipality. From insulation measures to healthy food and a climate-resilient garden: there’s plenty to discover and be inspired by. Local businesses and organizations have the opportunity to set up a full or half market stall and showcase their sustainable product, service, or initiative. There are still a few booths available! Enter to win the €500 Sustainability Award
During Sustainability Day, the Sustainability Award, worth €500, will also be presented. With this award, the municipality aims to highlight a sustainable initiative or project from the municipality of Aalten. Examples include projects that contribute to the energy transition, climate adaptation, circularity, or biodiversity. Do you know of an existing initiative within the municipality of Aalten that serves as an inspiring example for others? Or are you personally involved in such an initiative? If so, please submit it for consideration for the Sustainability Award. You can also submit a nomination until August 31 via gemeente@aalten.nl. Please include information about the initiative and explain why you believe it is eligible for the award.
