After the declaration
The municipality where you live will register your child in the Personal Records Database (BRP). From 1 day after registration, you can also look it up on MijnOverheid Personal data) (DigiD required).
Birth certificate
After the registration, the municipality will issue a birth certificate. The birth certificate will contain your child's first name(s) and surname. It will also contain the names of the parents, the date, time, and place of birth. If you wish, you can purchase a copy of the birth certificate when you register the birth. In any case, you will receive a letter from the municipality stating which details of your child have been entered in the Personal Records Database (BRP). This letter will be sent to the child's home address.
