Handicapped parking
What is it?
A disabled parking space is a parking space for people with physical disabilities. Other drivers are not allowed to park their cars here.
You can apply for your own disabled parking space near your home or workplace to the municipality. You will then be given a reserved parking space where only the vehicle with your license plate may park.
How does it work?
To qualify for an individual handicapped parking space, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be registered as a resident of the municipality.
- The applicant travels independently in her/his own motor vehicle on more than two wheels.
- The applicant has a valid driver's license.
- The applicant meets the eligibility criteria for a disabled parking card (GPK), as described in Article 1 paragraph 1 under a of the national Disabled Parking Card Regulations (CDJZ/WBI/2001-829).
- The applicant does not and cannot reasonably provide on-site parking.
- The parking lot to be marked will not impede traffic safety, traffic flow, etc., and sufficient parking spaces will remain available for general use.
- The handicapped parking space is to be realized within the walking/displacement distance of the interested party, and in any case within a distance of 100 meters from the residence.
What do I need?
- (Copy of) your disabled parking permit
- Statement from your employer, if you want the parking space at your workplace.
