What is a disabled parking space?

A disabled parking space is a parking space for people with physical disabilities. Other drivers are not allowed to park their cars here.

You can apply for your own disabled parking space near your home or workplace to the municipality. You will then be given a reserved parking space where only the vehicle with your license plate may park.

How does it work?

You are the driver

  • To obtain a disabled parking space at your home, you must be registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) at that address.
  • To obtain a disabled parking space at your workplace, you will need a statement from your employer confirming that you work there.
  • The vehicle registration number is in your name or in the name of your housemate.
  • If the license plate is registered to a leasing company or business, you will need a statement from the license plate holder confirming that you are the primary driver.
  • You have a disabled parking permit.
  • You do not have your own parking space, such as a garage or driveway.

You are the passenger

  • You cannot just stay at your home when the driver picks up and parks the car.
  • You are always dependent on the driver's assistance for door-to-door transportation.
  • There are no options for getting in or out of your home or workplace.
  • You are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) at the same address as the driver of the car.
  • The license plate of the car is registered in your name or in the name of the driver.
  • If the license plate is registered to a leasing company or business, you will need a statement from the license plate holder stating that the driver is the daily user of the car.
  • You have a disabled parking permit.
  • You do not have your own parking space, such as a garage or driveway.
