The City of Aalten and ROVA are working to improve the quality of PMD
Properly sorted PMD is important for reusing valuable raw materials. That is why the municipality of Aalten and ROVA are making an extra effort to improve the quality of PMD. Starting in January, they will be conducting additional checks for contamination in PMD containers during regular collection.

Why is a good divorce important?
PMD stands for plastic packaging, metal packaging, and beverage cartons. Only empty packaging that falls into these categories belongs in the PMD container. However, waste that doesn’t belong there sometimes ends up mixed in with the PMD, such as general waste, textiles, diapers, or packaging with food scraps. This makes it harder to properly recycle these valuable raw materials. By sorting PMD correctly, more raw materials can be reused.
Alderman Alex Walter: “We’re already doing a good job of sorting PMD in our municipality, but there’s still room for improvement. Above all, we want to raise residents’ awareness of the importance of properly sorting PMD. Proper sorting starts at home. If we all put the right waste in the right container, many more raw materials can be reused.”
What does this mean for you?
Starting in January, ROVA’s collection vehicles will weigh the PMD containers during regular collection. Because PMD is relatively light, a noticeably high weight may indicate that the container contains other types of waste. The driver therefore always inspects the contents visually as well.
Is there too much waste in your container that doesn’t belong in the PMD? If so, the container won’t be emptied. The driver will leave a “ Map ” note with information about the contamination found. After you’ve removed the incorrect waste, you can put the container out again for the next collection round. If your container is still very full and you don’t want to wait until the next collection round, you can drop off some of the waste at the GRIP truck in Aalten or Dinxperlo.
Enter the "Find & Win" Contest
From November 2 through November 29, the municipality of Aalten, in collaboration with ROVA, is organizing an online “Find & Win” contest. At aalten.rova.nl, you can discover in an interactive way which waste items do not belong in the PMD container. A gift package containing products made from recycled PMD will be raffled off among the participants.
Are you unsure where to put your trash?
