The municipality of Aalten is working towards an inclusive society

This week, the Municipal Executive adopted the report Inclusion, more than just a checkbox and the accompanying implementation plan. The report contains concrete steps to visibly and structurally embed inclusion in the work of the municipality, so that everyone can participate fully in society.

Among other things, this plan appoints an Inclusion Champion. This person ensures that the municipality works concretely and visibly on accessibility and equal opportunities for everyone. Residents and experts by experience are also actively involved in policy: not about people, but with people.

Legal obligations and added value

The plan helps the municipality comply with legal regulations, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and ensures that inclusion is firmly embedded in all municipal tasks. This allows everyone in Aalten to participate, regardless of age, disability, background, or circumstances.

Next steps

The municipality will start implementing the plan and drawing up the Local Inclusion Agenda as soon as possible, so that the progress and results of the plan become visible and have a lasting impact.
