Municipality of Aalten wants to start area development Slingeplas - 't Broock

Space for housing, recreation and nature

In Bredevoort, a plan is ready for a new area development around the Slingeplas and 't Broock. Moving the sports fields towards the Slingeplas will create space for housing. There will also be more opportunities for recreation at the Slingeplas. The mayor and aldermen now want to go ahead and finalize the design.

draft plan Slingeplas 't Broock

The plan provides space for a total of 80 homes, including housing for starters and seniors. At the Slingeplas there will be additional camper spaces and the new sports park. There is also much attention for nature, landscape and historical elements; for example, the old canal structure will be restored.

Cooperation with Bredevoort

Associations, organizations and residents worked together to create the plan. The elaboration of the plan was then taken up by the municipality together with Bredevoorts Belang, Sports Association Bredevoort and vacation park De Twee Bruggen. Alderman Ted Kok: "The result is a beautiful plan that contributes to the livability of Bredevoort and offers a future for the Slingeplas. Nice that we really made this together. We are not there yet, but we are now taking an important step towards realization. We are also picking up the sequel again with Bredevoort."

Water remains important

Water is and will continue to be important in the plan. The Slingeplas will continue to function as a retention area, where water is collected during very wet periods to prevent flooding elsewhere in the municipality. Together with the Rijn and IJssel Water Board, we looked at how the plans could connect to this. The solution: the new sports park will be located outside the retention area and the dam surrounding the area will be partially relocated.

The council will decide in July

The college is positive about the developed plan and is now submitting it to the city council. The council will be asked to agree to start the area development. The city council is expected to make a decision in early July.
