Municipality of Aalten takes first step toward redesigning access to social domain
The Municipal Executive of Aalten has approved the first step in the reorganization of access to assistance and support for residents. The project builds on the success of the existing VAT Aalten, where residents can already go with questions about Health well-being.

The council has given the green light to further develop the initial idea, including a financial calculation. Based on the results of this development, a decision will be made at a later date regarding the design of the renewed access to the social domain.
Walk-in VAT Aalten remains available
During this process, the current VAT (Question and Advice Team) Aalten will remain available to residents (walk-in without appointment on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the municipal office at Hofstraat in Aalten). Residents can easily contact VAT staff and partners in the social domain who can help them with all kinds of questions and, where necessary, refer them to the appropriate service so that they can move forward on their own.
What might change in the future?
The proposed model is based on a central access point at the municipal office in Aalten—with extended opening hours—a local drop-in center in Dinxperlo, and enhanced digital access. The proposed model builds on the success of the VAT, including its more personalized approach to residents, and on the experiences of partners within the VAT.
