Municipal elections: municipality of Aalten opens polling station for night owls
Anyone who wants to be one of the first to vote in the municipal elections on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, can do so in Aalten right at midnight. A special night polling station will be open at Oerkroeg Schiller from midnight to 2 a.m.

The night polling station at Prinsenstraat in Aalten is intended for night owls, early birds, and anyone who likes to be one of the first in the municipality to vote. Mayor Anton Stapelkamp explains: "With this night polling station, we want to draw extra attention to the municipal elections and encourage residents to cast their votes. Every vote counts, and we want to make it as easy, accessible, and fun as possible. And voting in the middle of the night is, of course, a special experience."
Voting during the day
There is also plenty of choice when it comes to polling stations in the municipality of Aalten during the day. With a total of 23 polling station locations, there is always one nearby. Most locations are open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A number of polling stations have different opening hours. For example, voting is possible at the station in Aalten from 5:15 a.m., at the nursing homes in Aalten and Bredevoort between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., in Barlo, IJzerlo, and Lintelo from 1:00 p.m., and in Aaltense Heurne, Dale, and Haart from 5:00 p.m.

More frequent special voting locations
The municipality of Aalten often experiments with unusual ways of voting. Previously, there were mobile polling stations in a truck and a bus, and even a polling station in the middle of the Dutch-German border in Dinxperlo.
