Global Goals congregation

The municipality of Aalten is a so-called Global Goals municipality. They cover topics such as poverty reduction, sustainability, health, education, and climate change.

The municipality of Aalten has joined this global movement and is actively committed to achieving these goals at the local level. This means that the municipality takes sustainability and social justice into account in its policy choices and initiatives. Examples include:

  • Renewable energy: Encourage solar panels, wind power and energy conservation.
  • Climate adaptation: Measures to better cope with extreme weather events, such as greener streets and water harvesting.
  • Inclusive society: Promoting equal opportunities for all residents, for example by supporting poverty reduction and inclusion.
  • Sustainable Economy: Collaborate with local entrepreneurs to promote circular economy and sustainable business.

Why is this important?

By engaging as a Global Goals municipality, we not only contribute to a better living environment for our residents, but also to a more sustainable world. This ties in with the broader responsibility that municipalities have to contribute to a future-proof society.
