Global Goals congregation
The municipality of Aalten is a so-called Global Goals municipality. The Global Goals, officially the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are 17 goals established by the United Nations to make the world a better place by 2030. They cover topics such as poverty reduction, sustainability, health, education and climate change.
The municipality of Aalten has joined this global movement and is actively committed to achieving these goals at the local level. This means that the municipality considers sustainability and social justice in policy choices and initiatives. Examples include:
- Renewable energy: Encourage solar panels, wind power and energy conservation.
- Climate adaptation: Measures to better cope with extreme weather events, such as greener streets and water harvesting.
