Major maintenance on ponds along Singelweg
The Rijn en IJssel Water Authority is carrying out major maintenance work on the ponds along Singelweg, in consultation with the municipality of Aalten. The maintenance is necessary to improve water quality and keep the ponds healthy.

The silt at the bottom of the ponds is being removed. This silt contains nutrients that cause (blue) algae and duckweed. In addition, banks are being modified in some places and culverts (pipes under the road) are being shortened, flushed and reinforced to improve flow. In some places, the wooden revetment is being replaced, and where it is no longer needed, it is being removed to create natural banks.
Planning
Work will commence in the first week of February and will take approximately two months.
