Dog tax
What is it?
As of January 1, 2026, you will no longer have to pay dog tax in the municipality of Aalten.
What to do.
Do I still need to sign my dog in or out?
No. Because the dog tax has completely expired, the municipality no longer keeps records of dog ownership. Therefore, you no longer need to register your dog or unregister it.
What do I do with the dog tag?
Do you still have a dog tag from the municipality? You can keep it. The tag does not need to be turned in and no longer has any function for us.
Additional information
Will dog facilities remain in public spaces?
Yes. The dog waste bins will remain as they are. Other facilities for dogs will also remain as they are now.
Will the cleanup requirement remain?
Yes. Even after the tax expires, the cleanup requirement for dog owners will remain in place. This is how we keep our streets, parks and sidewalks clean together.
