Residents and light

Light on the street does not only come from public lighting, but can also come from residents. Think, for example, of lighting on facades, in gardens, and in paddocks. Together, all these light sources determine the image outside.

Motion Sensor

With a sensor, the light comes on when there is motion. This works effectively against burglars. It stands out when light is on.

Timer

With a timer, the light can be on at the hours it is desired. For example, in the evening. At other times, the light is off.

Conscious handling of lighting

We ask residents to be cautious with lights. The request is to carefully consider whether lighting is really necessary, how much light and at what time. Therefore, we ask:

  • To be lit outside only when really necessary.
  • Use sensor lights, timers or motion detectors.
  • Later in the evening, dim the lights.
  • Turn off garden lights after 11 p.m., do not use bright lights and direct them properly.
  • Light horse troughs only at the time they are being used and then use low power that is properly directed at the horse trough.

When residents are conscious about their own light use, together we provide a sustainable, energy-efficient and pleasant living environment.

This is how we do it from now on

  • We actively involve our residents in major changes to street lighting.
  • We evaluate after major changes. This allows us to learn with each other.
