Meet Council Member Anke Westerveld-Lammers
My name is Anke Westerveld-Lammers. I grew up in Dinxperlo and have been happily living in Aalten for twenty years now. I live on the outskirts of the village with my husband and two children, after having lived in the center of Aalten for many years.

A few years ago, I decided to take the “Politically Active” course because I wanted to learn more about how decisions are made in our municipality and was curious about the influence citizens can have on those decisions. That course sparked my interest in Aalten’s politics and motivated me to become politically active.
I’ve been a member of the CDA Aalten-Dinxperlo since last year. Driven by a strong sense of justice, I’d like to do my part to create a community where people of all ages can enjoy living and working.
To me, serving on the city council means that I can truly be there for the residents. In my role as an elected official, I believe it’s important to listen carefully, be visible at community events, and, above all, remain approachable. I’m open to having meaningful conversations to hear what’s on people’s minds and what’s happening in our community. That’s how I want to ensure our citizens’ voices are heard in the city council. Your voice matters!
In the coming years, I want to focus my efforts in particular on issues that enhance the quality of life and social safety in our communities. I would like to help develop concrete solutions to local challenges, so that the municipality of Aalten remains a place where people of all ages feel at home.
What makes our municipality so special to me is the strong sense of community and the down-to-earth, can-do attitude typical of the Achterhoek region. It’s a wonderful, active community where people still look out for one another and are there to help others. That’s what makes the municipality of Aalten such a great place for me to live.
In addition to my work on the council, I draw a lot of energy from my family life and day trips, and I enjoy staying active or engaging in creative pursuits in my free time. Residents may run into me at local events, in one of the town centers, or while taking a walk in the beautiful countryside around Aalten. I look forward to talking with many of you in the coming period and working together on the future of our beautiful municipality!
