The former metal mesh weaving mill at Weversstraat is part of Dinxperlo's (industrial) past. Due to the relocation of the company Wire Weaving Dinxperlo, this location has lost its original function. Transforming this location to another function has been under discussion for some time.

In the Center Vision Dinxperlo of 2020, the City Council confirmed the ambition for the transformation of this area. In this, the Center Vision is an important guideline for the redevelopment of this area.

Supermarket and housing

First, this former factory site should become part of a modern supermarket offering for Dinxperlo. An entirely new supermarket can then be realized in part of the area. For this purpose, the Jumbo will be moved to this area. Based on the Center Vision, the other part of the site can be used for housing and/or (light) business activity. It is also being investigated whether additional parking spaces for visitors to the center can be realized within this area.

State of affairs

The ambitions for the metal mesh weaving mill site are not new and have been under discussion for some time. Although it has seemed quiet to the outside world recently, preparations for the redevelopment are in full swing. First of all, the frameworks within which the project can come about are being explored. The municipality plays a role in this, but certainly also the current and future owners of the site. The next step is a discussion with local residents and businesses in the area about the future functions and layout of the area. Then a procedure to amend the environmental plan will be initiated. The steps being taken now are in preparation for the conversation with the surrounding area and the subsequent environmental plan procedure. In anticipation of this, the owner is busy having studies carried out.
Preparations are in full swing, but there are still some steps to be taken. It is clear that all parties involved are striving to give this area a beautiful new interpretation so that the area becomes an asset for Dinxperlo.
