Network expansion in Aalten by Liander

Over the coming years, work will be carried out on the electricity grid at various locations in the center of Aalten. This will ensure that Aalten has a secure energy supply in the future. Demand for and supply of electricity is growing rapidly. Due to rising demand for energy from businesses, feed-in from solar panels and other sources, and the increasing sustainability of homes, this capacity is no longer sufficient. This has led to shortages on the electricity grid in Aalten. To resolve these bottlenecks, Liander will be carrying out large-scale work in the coming years. 

The energy transition is in full swing. This requires a massive expansion of the power grid. That is why new cables are being laid, electricity substations are being built, and new power connections are being installed in various locations. Liander, together with contractors and suppliers, is taking measures to guarantee the reliability of the electricity grid. In this way, the power grids are being prepared for a sustainable future. 

What does the work involve?

The expansion of the electricity grid in Aalten mainly consists of strengthening the 10,000-volt network, also known as the medium-voltage grid. Approximately 45 kilometers of medium-voltage cable will be laid in the coming period. 

Low-voltage grid and transformer stations

In the area where this medium-voltage cable is being laid, research has also been conducted into the low-voltage grid. Where the low-voltage grid is no longer adequate, it will be upgraded immediately. In addition, 21 transformer stations (also known as electricity substations) will be replaced or converted, and 12 new transformer stations will be added to the network. Planning activities

The work will be carried out in several phases. The first phase has already started at Manschotplein. The Map all the cables to be laid and new transformer stations. It may take some time before Liander starts work in your neighborhood. As soon as they start work in your area, you will receive a letter with more information. If necessary, temporary diversion routes will be put in place. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Liander aims to have all work completed by the end of 2026.
