Suggest new street name
What is it?
The municipality names new streets (public spaces). In doing so, the municipality is advised by the Regional Archives (ECAL Doetinchem) and the Cultural Heritage Committee. Interest groups are also asked to contribute their ideas. This joint proposal is submitted to the Municipal Executive via the Cultural Heritage Committee for decision-making.
How does it work?
The municipality must always determine a name for all streets, squares, and other parts of public space (for example, in response to a new zoning plan). The municipality assesses this in accordance with the 2013 street naming implementation regulations. In addition, the Regional Archives, interest groups, and the Cultural Heritage Commission advise the municipality on new street names. Among other things, they consider historical accuracy and practical usability. The municipality maintains a register containing all street names in the municipality.
