Amend environmental plan

What is it?

The environmental plan states how the land in an area and the buildings on it may be used. If you want to use land or buildings in a different way than stated in the environmental plan, you can ask the municipality to amend the environmental plan.

Amend environmental plan or apply for environmental permit

Although anyone can apply for an environmental plan amendment, it is most common for larger projects. For smaller plans, apply for an environmental permit contrary use.

How does it work?

By applying to the municipality for an amendment to the environmental plan, you can change the rules for the use of land or buildings in an area. Anyone with an interest may request an adjustment. For example, if you live in the area.

What do I need?

To make clear why you want to amend the environmental plan, provide the following documents to the municipality with your application:

  • A description of your building plans
  • Construction drawings of the current and new situation
  • Situation drawings and/or a floor plan
  • A good spatial justification: why should the environmental plan be amended?

What does it cost?

For fees, please refer to the fee table in the fee regulation. See local regulations.
