Explosive war remnants, control area

What is it?

How to deal with risks from WW ll bombs in the municipality of Aalten.

Gemeente Aalten wants to inform you about the risks of explosive remnants of war in the soil in the territory of the municipality of Aalten. And how you yourself can check whether or not an area where you want to dig is suspicious for the presence of explosive remnants of war.

To this end, the municipality has already had a municipality-wide preliminary investigation conducted by consultancy firm AVG. This report by AVG, with ref. 1962203-VO-02, describes the wartime events in the municipality of Aalten. You can use the results of the investigation to assess whether there are any risks for planned ground work.

How does it work?

The acts of war are listed as facts with a risk contour in a map.

Digital map

In this map, you will see a green navigation screen. Here you can search by address. You can now see if your location is in a suspect area or not.

Location is suspect:

If the site is in a colored contour and you can read in the various tabs that your area is at risk of having explosive remnants of war (ordnance, missiles et cetera).

Location is not suspicious:

If your location is not in a colored area and clicking on the location on the map only displays the menu below, then your location is in an unsuspicious area and no follow-up action is required.

What to do.

If the digital map shows that your site is suspicious for the presence of explosive remnants of war, you, as the client, are required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to conduct further investigation before digging into the soil/ having it excavated.
