Draft Omgevingsvisie of Aalten 2040
On May 28, 2026, the Municipal Executive of Aalten decided to submit the Ontwerp Omgevingsvisie gemeente Aalten 2040 to the City Council. With this decision, the municipality is taking the next step in the development of the living environment leading up to 2040.
The Draft Omgevingsvisie on the preliminary draft adopted by the city council in February 2026. The preferred approach outlined in that draft has been further developed and specified for each sub-area.
Future-proof development in the municipality of Aalten
The omgevingsvisie on the future-proof development of the municipality of Aalten. It not only provides scope for development, but above all for a healthy, livable, and socially cohesive municipality. Growth and quality are explicitly balanced in this vision. Strengthening broad prosperity is also central, and economic development, livability, health, landscape, amenities, community building, and quality of life are approached in an integrated manner. Developments are not a given but must demonstrably contribute to a better living environment and fit within Aalten’s identity. For this reason, the new Omgevingsvisie includes an “assessment framework” for evaluating initiatives.
Community Meetings
In the first week of June, the municipality is organizing four meetings to explain the area-specific elaboration of the Ontwerp Omgevingsvisie and to engage in discussions with residents. The meetings will start at 7:30 PM (doors open from 7:00 PM) and will conclude by 9:30 PM at the latest.

- Friday, June 5 – ’t Grachthuys (Bredevoort)

The Draft Omgevingsvisie now Omgevingsvisie submitted to the city council with a request to approve its public review. Once approved, the vision will be available for public review from August 3 through September 14, 2026. During this period, residents and other stakeholders may submit comments on the plans. The responses will be taken into account when drafting the final omgevingsvisie, which will be submitted to the city council at the end of 2026. The Draft Omgevingsvisie published on the Aalten city website in the coming period. The vision can also be requested via omgevingsvisie@aalten.nl.
