Organizations that can help you with financial matters

Would you like to know how to make your money go further? Or how to get your finances in order? Would you like to know what benefits are available to people on low incomes? Or do you have other questions about financial matters? There are all kinds of organizations in the municipality of Aalten that can answer your financial questions or offer advice, tips, or assistance. We have listed a number of them for you below.

Not sure which organization can best answer your question? Then come to the VAT Aalten walk-in center. The staff will be happy to help you.

VAT Aalten

VAT Aalten staff will help you with advice and practical tips on everything related to money. Free of charge, of course. Share your money worries. Ask for tips on how to make your money stretch further. Ask for help with your administration or applying for benefits or allowances. Or ask for advice on a financial or legal matter.

Do you need more help? Then the staff member will put you in touch with other experts who can help you further. This help is also free of charge.

Forms Brigade

Do you want to apply for reimbursements or allowances from the municipality, the tax authorities or another authority? Then you usually have to fill out one or more forms to do so.

Do you find that difficult or doubt that everything is filled out correctly? Then ask for help from the Forms Brigade.
Volunteers of the Forms Brigade know exactly how to fill in the forms and are happy to do so together with you. Or they can check with you to see if what you have filled in is correct.

Humanitas Home Administration

Losing control of your finances is easy. Don't keep brooding if you have lost or are in danger of losing control of your finances. Contact Humanitas Home Administration for help.

You can register with Humanitas. After registering, you will have an interview with a coordinator to see if Humanitas Home Administration is the right place for you. If so, they will look for a 'suitable volunteer'. Once a suitable volunteer has been found, you will be matched. The volunteer will help you get your financial matters administration in order and keep them that way. The help provided by the Humanitas Home Administration volunteer is temporary. You do not have to pay for it.

Make an appointment

You can register yourself at Humanitas. After the application follows a conversation with a coordinator to see if you are at the right address with Humanitas Thuisadministratie. If so, they will look for a "suitable volunteer". If a suitable volunteer is found, you will be linked together.

Social counselors

Social counselors provide information, advice and support on socio-legal and financial questions. That is, questions related to laws and regulations. Social counselors know exactly what you are entitled to. They explain the regulations and can tell you which institution can help you further. Social counselors work together with the Legal Help Desk. Advice from social counselors is free of charge.

Social counselors help you with questions about

  • Benefits: welfare, unemployment, sickness, disability, aow and child support.
  • Taxes: income tax assessments, tax credits and remission.
  • Benefits: rent and healthcare benefits, child budget and child care benefits.
  • Personal and family law: divorce, alimony and inheritance law.
  • Rental law: rights and duties of tenant and landlord, lease and landlord's declaration.
  • Employment matters: wages, illness, termination and employment contracts.
  • Debt collection and garnishment: reminders, letters from the bailiff and attachment of income.
  • Education: student loans and student fee concessions.

Social Counselors help you by

  • answer questions and give advice
  • write letters and objections
  • mediate between you and agencies
  • ascertain which scheme you are eligible for
  • If necessary, refer you to other agencies

General social work

Sometimes you have questions about your life or your role in society or family. Or things are not going well at home or at work. Talking about it with friends or family is sometimes just not good enough. You need someone who looks with you, without a complicated application and without a diagnosis. That is what social work is for.

Social work often provides short-term, solution-oriented assistance. The social worker will assess what you need to be able to move forward on your own. If necessary, you will work together to find further assistance. Appointments can be made at your home or at the office in Dinxperlo or Aalten. You do not have to pay for social work assistance.

MEE Together

Do you have a question about Health, education, welfare, housing, work, or income? Would you like someone to accompany you to a meeting with the municipality or, for example, the UWV? Would you like someone to help you with an application? Would you like someone to look at the options available to you if you disagree with the approach or decision of an agency? Or just someone to help you sort everything out and look at the options available in your situation from your point of view? If so, MEE Samen is there to help. Free of charge, independent, and without referral.

The client supporters of MEE know a lot about living with disabilities. With a (light) mental, sensory or physical disability, with chronic illness, non-congenital brain injury or autism, for example. They can also help the elderly or people with mental health problems.

Law Clinic

You can come to the legal clinic with all your questions that have a legal background. You get advice on your rights and obligations in various conflict situations. You will get a good idea of the effect of any follow-up steps if it appears that you cannot resolve a conflict situation by talking. There is no charge for the advice provided by the Rechtswinkel.

Legal counter

Anyone can visit the Legal Help Desk website for legal information, tips and sample letters. Do you have a low income and little savings? Then the Legal Counter can also help you in person.

Diaconal Relief Foundation

Being there for your neighbor. For many years, religious communities in the municipality of Aalten have endorsed this mission. To further demonstrate their commitment to being there for all residents, regardless of faith or background, the Diaconal Assistance Foundation Aalten (DHA) was established. DHA provides help and support to people who are struggling. The DHA brings together churches and religious communities to contribute to the well-being of all people who are temporarily or chronically in a difficult or vulnerable situation.

Participation Pact

The Meedoenpact wants to support residents who are struggling (financially). They know the way to the right assistance. In addition, they can sometimes offer financial support themselves. For example:

  • when you incur medical expenses that are not covered by insurance. Think, for example, of the dentist;
  • If you see your child coming up short because you are financially tight;
  • If you need to make a big expense unexpectedly, but really don't have the money for it;
  • by providing annual Christmas food parcels and children's holiday parcels for low-income families in the municipality of Aalten.

Handyman Brigade Figulus

The Handyman Brigade helps with small jobs in and around the house, such as a leaky tap, a squeaky garden gate or a shrub in the garden that needs pruning. The Klussendienst is intended for people with a small budget and a limited network who could use a helping hand. For each job to be done, € 2.00 per hour will be charged. In addition, the gasoline costs of the volunteer (€ 0.19 per kilometer) and any materials used will be charged. After each job you must pay cash to the volunteer.

After registering a chore, a chore form is filled out by the Figulus Welzijn employee. The coordinator of the Klusbrigade assesses the job. Within a week you will hear whether the job will be accepted and how it will be done. You will also be notified if the job is not accepted.

Digital House Library

Want to learn to speak better Dutch? Learn to read and write better? The Taalhuis will be happy to help you with that. The Taalhuis is a place in the library or another location where people who have difficulty with Dutch language, math or basic computer skills can come. First, together with the language teacher, you identify your learning needs and are given suitable materials to work with. Then, under the guidance of a language coach, you will work individually or in small groups. Participation is free of charge. You do not have to be a member of the library.
