Request an overview of personal data provided
What is it?
Government agencies and other organizations may request your data from the municipality. For example, for:
- pensions
- benefits
- rent allowance
- taxes
- lawsuits
If you would like to know what information the municipality has about you, you can request an overview. You can do this at the municipality where you live.
How does it work?
To provide you with a complete overview, the municipality does not only consult its own systems. It also inquires which national government organizations have viewed your data.
What to do.
You can request the overview in writing from the municipality.
What do I need?
You must submit your application in writing at the municipal office. Please enclose a copy of your valid ID with your application.
How long does it take?
You will receive the overview within four weeks.
Additional information
The overview goes back a maximum of twenty years. This is how long the government is required to retain so-called 'provisions' under the Personal Records Database Act. However, this Act only came into force on January 6, 2014. Until then, the statutory retention period was one year. It is therefore not always possible to retrieve all information from the past twenty years for you.
