Parking is available in several parking lots in our community. Sometimes centered on a square, sometimes in residential areas. Some parking lots do not belong to the municipality, for example at apartments.

Use

The parking lots we know in our communities are used variably. Some are still used a lot in the night, others are hardly used at all. Many parking lots are now lit, not only in the evening but also at night.

When can the lights go out?

It is important to check after what time the parking lot is still in use. For example, at a sports field. The light in the parking lot is on all night while no one is using it anymore. This costs energy and creates light pollution.

This is how we do it from now on

  • For each parking lot, we assess whether lighting makes sense. If lighting is in place, we consider whether it is needed at night.
  • In any case, we dim after 7 p.m.
  • If lighting is not needed at night, we turn it off. However, in consultation with users, residents, business owners and associations.
  • If the parking lot belongs to another owner, we consult with this to also dim the lights and perhaps turn them off at night when little or no use is made of them.
