Aalten Council asks residents for their opinion on Requirements for asylum seeker Requirements
The municipal council of Aalten is asking residents for their opinion on the Requirements the reception of asylum seekers in the municipality. Three council factions have drawn up an initiative proposal for this purpose. Before the council makes a decision, residents will have the opportunity to respond.
Under the Distribution Act, municipalities are responsible for providing accommodation for asylum seekers. For Aalten, this means a minimum of 200 places. The municipal executive previously proposed creating 300 places at Singel 2 in Aalten. The municipal council received many concerns from the community about this, including safety, the number of accommodation places, pressure on Health facilities, and opportunities for young people to find housing. The council therefore decided Requirements first Requirements its own frameworks and Requirements .
Residents can respond
Residents can respond to the initiative proposal submitted to the council in two ways:
- Public comments: during an exploratory meeting on February 12. Registration is required via Municipal Clerk’s Office. Depending on the number of registrations, an additional public comment evening may be held on February 11.
- Respond in writing: by email to the municipal council, also via Municipal Clerk’s Office.
The council will also respond to the initiative proposal in writing. This is expected to be available on February 9.

After the consultation round, the municipal council will discuss all responses and Requirements the final Requirements . The municipal executive will then search for suitable locations within the municipality that meet the Requirements.
