Good to know

Under 18 years of age

Children under 18 years old need consent to apply for a passport. Consent is required from both parents or from the person(s) responsible for the child. For an ID card, this applies to children under 12 years old. Please note these requirements:

  • Your child will come with you to the appointment
  • All parents or guardians must accompany the child to the appointment. At least one parent or guardian is required to be present at the appointment.
  • If one of the parents or guardians is unable to attend the appointment, please fill out the consent form and bring it with you to the appointment
  • Bring (a copy of) a passport, ID card, or driver's licence of all parents or guardians.

Second passport

Sometimes it is necessary to apply for a second passport. For example, if you are traveling to countries that are in conflict with one another. A list of countries where a second passport is required can be found on Rijksoverheid.nl. The second passport is valid for 2 years. Your first passport must still be valid for at least 6 months.

Additional documents are required for this application

  • signed letter or statement from the employer confirming that a second passport is crucial for the execution of his/her duties for the organization in question.

Business Passport

If you travel abroad frequently, you can apply for a business passport. A business passport has more pages and therefore more space for visas and travel stamps.
