Court of Auditors

The municipalities of Aalten, Oost Gelre and Winterswijk have a joint Court of Audit. The Court of Auditors conducts independent investigations into the policies and implementation of tasks by the three municipalities.

Crucial questions here are whether the municipal government actually achieves the intended results and whether this is done at acceptable costs. The Court tries not only to judge the past, but also to draw lessons for the future. In this way, the Court supports the city councils of the three municipalities in their framework-setting and controlling role. It also gives residents more insight into the results that the municipal authorities achieve for them.

Director's model

In Aalten, Oost Gelre and Winterswijk, a director model of the Court of Auditors has been chosen. Director of the Court of Auditors is Mr. André de Boer. In addition, there is a sounding board group with two representatives from each city council. At least four times a year, the director meets with the sounding board group to find out what topics are important to the municipal councils and what topics are interesting for a Court of Audit investigation. Together they then decide which topics will actually be investigated. The research reports are presented in the city councils and can be viewed, as well as the annual research plan.
