Natural gas free together
In the Climate Accord, it has been agreed that the Netherlands will be natural gas-free by 2050. In the Agreement of Groenlo, the Achterhoek municipalities jointly decided to be energy-neutral by 2050 or as much earlier as possible.
An important part of this is heating buildings without natural gas, with renewable energy sources. It is essential for our climate that we get rid of natural gas soon. Natural gas-free heating is comfortable and can save money as natural gas prices will rise in the future. We also want to be less dependent on energy from abroad.
In the coming years, we will be working to make all residential areas, neighborhoods, and business parks in the municipality of Aalten suitable for natural gas-free living and business. Insulation is the first step. In 2026, a program will be drawn up detailing how we will move towards becoming natural gas-free in Aalten. However, you can already get started yourself. What can you do now to make your home more sustainable and save on energy costs? Whatever alternative to natural gas you choose, there are measures that always pay off and that you will never regret. Think about insulation, for example. You can find useful tips on the following websites:
Choose the right moment
Is your house well insulated and do you already want to get rid of gas (partially)? Then you can opt for an individual solution, such as a (hybrid) heat pump. By choosing the right moment, you do not incur unnecessary costs. A good time, for example, is when your central heating boiler needs replacing or when you are renovating.
Getting started on your property?
To make the transition to natural gas-free affordable(r), there are various subsidies. For heat pumps, solar boilers and insulation, among other things, you can make use of the national ISDE subsidy.
