Singel 1 and 2: Report on the Public Participation Meeting, January 19, 2026
On January 19, 2026, a community meeting was held, and the following questions and comments were raised.
Questions/comments and answers for prospective residents of Singel 1-2
No. | Question/comment | Answer |
|---|---|---|
1 | Is it possible to build more semi-detached homes? | As we move forward with the details, we will explore these possibilities |
2 | Beautiful spaces for greenery and walking paths, a lovely place to be—hopefully timeless as well | - |
3 | A nice concept with plenty of greenery; hoping for semi-detached homes | See 1 |
4 | Is it possible to set up a CPO on my own and purchase a housing complex (multiple units)? | As we move forward with the details, we will explore these possibilities |
5 | A good mix of different types of housing, making it accessible to a variety of groups | - |
6 | The basic concept of the plan is great: lots of green space, a relatively quiet neighborhood, good access from downtown and the main road, and the (expected) price is attractive to me as a first-time homebuyer | - |
7 | I’d like to get a better idea of homes priced up to €260,000—the entry-level homes. It’s hard to tell whether I’d qualify for an apartment, a duplex, or maybe even a townhouse. The latter is obviously my preference. | We will keep you updated on the latest developments via the Aalten municipal website, and as soon as more details are available, we will also provide information on how to apply for the various housing units |
8 | Attention is being paid to different target groups and different price ranges; it’s great that affordable housing is being built. This is good news for first-time homebuyers. It’s also good that nature is being taken into account. I’m interested in first-time homebuyer properties. | - |
9 | I would like to see the option of establishing a CPO (through a community group or similar) in advance in order to create a housing development. In other words, not just individual sales. | See 4 |
10 | Bomenlaan is beautiful! | - |
11 | Rental apartment for seniors | We will take this into account as we move forward |
12 | Apartments with a view of the countryside | We will do our best to make this happen. The area is subject to noise regulations, which means that Hamelandroute facades must be installed on the side facing the Hamelandroute . |
13 | When selecting surfaces for paths, parking lots, and similar areas, consider accessibility for wheeled devices such as wheelchairs, strollers, and walkers. Hard-packed sand, for example, is an accessible option that also looks natural. | We will take this into account as we move forward |
14 | The interested young man still lives with his parents in Aalten and hopes the plan will be implemented soon. He appreciates the green park design. | - |
15 | Focus on landscape maintenance. For example, Admiraal de Ruyterstraat—it’s not in great shape there either. | Of course, sufficient attention will be given to (future) landscaping maintenance. Regarding Admiraal de Ruyterstraat: as a municipality, we are actually very pleased with the landscaping on Admiraal de Ruyterstraat regularly receive compliments about it. |
Questions/comments and responses from residents of Singel 1-2
No. | Question/comment | Answer |
|---|---|---|
1 | Concerned about heavy traffic between the area and 't Slaa | Part of the recently drafted mobility plan involves reducing the speed limit on Singelweg 50 to 30 km/h. The specific measures to be taken and the timeline for their implementation have yet to be determined. As soon as more details are available, the neighborhood will be informed of the plans. |
2 | Why doesn't the green continue? | Landscape-wise, the area is characterized by a fragmented green structure. Open spaces and wooded areas alternate. These landscape features have been incorporated into the area. |
3 | Retired urban planner and local resident thinks it's a great plan | - |
4 | A green plan and an attractive noise barrier along the main road | - |
5 | Is there sufficient capacity to maintain this park? | Once the area has been developed, the plan will be incorporated into the municipality’s green space management plan. |
6 | "No more dead-end streets. Consider installing a roundabout, for example, to improve traffic safety. Driving around the block gives you a better view than having to turn around three times because there are no parking spaces available." | Road safety issues related to parking will be addressed in the further development of the plan. |
7 | Singelweg: high speed, no parking, speed limit reduced from 50 to 30 km/h | See 1 |
8 | 50% is green! But how much existing green space will be lost? | Some grassy areas will be cleared to make way for housing. Only a very limited amount of greenery will be removed, and more than enough will be replanted. |
9 | Intersection -> approaching traffic lights -> proceed on green | This option is being explored |
10 | Green median strip at the exit | See 9 |
11 | Please be aware of traffic and parking during construction | As the plans are further developed and the construction contract is put out to bid, agreements will be made with the contractor regarding these matters |
12 | Singelweg Bodendijk Singelweg speed bump' … Very unfortunate | See 1 |
13 | Provincial intersection: additional lane! | The Province has scheduled major maintenance on the N313. The exact timeframe for the work has not yet been determined. We will address this during the planning process. |
14 | The intersection of Bodendijk Singelweg and a hassle. | See 1 |
15 | Singelweg parking on Singelweg still Singelweg allowed? | Parking is now prohibited in the section near the Groene Kamer. In the remaining section, we are maintaining the current situation (i.e., no parking ban). If necessary, we may implement additional measures there in the future. |
16 | Emergency access? Isn't that no longer necessary? | We will coordinate this with the Fire Department once the final plan is in place, but the preliminary conclusion is that this access route is not necessary. |
17 | Have sufficient measures been taken to reduce noise from the Hamelandroute? | The plan must comply with applicable noise standards. In addition, if necessary, additional measures will be taken to ensure compliance with these standards. |
18 | Space for (shared) electric vehicle charging stations or on-site charging | A charging infrastructure is a minimum requirement for future-proof construction. This will be included in the bidding/allocation strategy. |
19 | Hamelandroute the intersection with Hamelandroute ? Is there a turning lane? | See 13 |
20 | Temporary parking during construction, on Singel | This option will be taken into account as the plans are further developed and the construction contract is put out to bid. |
21 | "Singelweg are very noisy. If this becomes a 30 km/h zone, will the road be redesigned to be quieter? All the way to Bocholtsestraatweg." | See 1 |
22 | Singelweg km road (mobility plan)—when will this take effect? | See 1 |
