Only Aalten has a train station. ProRail sets requirements for lighting at and around stations. The surrounding roads are owned by the municipality.

Role of ProRail

There are many lights in the station area that do not belong to the municipality. For example, the light on and around the station is prescribed by ProRail. The light on the access roads does belong to the municipality. Because the light on and around the station is so bright, it seems very dark further on. However, a normal amount of light is on there.

What are our choices

  • We will dim our lights after 7 p.m. This applies (among other things) to the access roads to the station.
  • We will talk to ProRail if they want to reduce and dim their lights after 7 p.m. Also, we ask if the lights can be turned off at night, after the last train.
