Deploying traffic controllers

How does it work?

1. Prior to an event, event organizers must apply for a permit from the road authority (usually the municipality). In consultation with police and road authority, the number of event traffic controllers to be deployed must be determined.
2. The event organizer then contacts the Stichting Verkeersregelaars Nederland (SVNL) to apply for a code with which to follow e-instruction, submitting (in copy) the provisional permit or written permission to follow e-instruction from the municipality. This is arranged via an application form on the website: www.verkeersregelaarsexamen.nl.
3. The organization and the event traffic controllers then register on the SVNL website, after which the instruction can be started immediately. The organization has access to the progress during the course of the instruction.
4. At the end of the instruction, the organization receives an overview of the successful candidates and the instruction statement on behalf of the Dutch police. The organization should send this digitally to the municipality with the request to appoint the event traffic controllers.
5. The municipality appoints traffic controllers for a maximum of 12 months. The final term of appointment depends on the validity of the traffic controller's e-instruction certificate ('diploma'). With this appointment decision you can then, within the period of validity, be deployed as an event traffic controller within the municipality of Aalten. No appointment per event is then required.

What does it cost?

As of Jan. 1, 2014, e-instruction is free of charge for organizations.
