On Thursday evening, September 28, 2023 was the second thoughtful evening for the reconstruction of the Aaltenseweg and Europastraat in Dinxperlo. As with the first evening, the turnout at Noaberz was again good with approximately 90 interested local residents. Councilman Erik Groters welcomed the attendees. Wim Voogt then gave a presentation in which he answered outstanding questions from the first evening and explained the new sketch designs for Europastraat, Aaltenseweg and school surroundings. The slide presentation and the posters with the design drawings are attached to this report.

After the presentation, there was three-quarters of an hour to discuss the various design proposals with each other around six large drawings.

The last half hour of the evening was used to collectively pick up the most important questions and concerns of the evening. By 9 p.m. Wim Voogt thanked all those present for their input.
The evening ended with a warm round of applause.

The most common wishes and ideas we received this evening were

Aaltenseweg

  • Green median near the school and Snijders Veerbeek is a good idea.
  • Preferred asphalt instead of bricks; due to concerns around additional noise.
  • Plant boxes as a deceleration measure are not appreciated, fear of noise accelerating/decelerating vehicles.
  • Pay close attention to any driveway structures at obscure side roads.
  • Looking closely at situation with hedge trimming and ROVA collection rounds at narrow sidewalk.
  • Lift parking lane information board at Welink forest.

Europa Street

  • Prefer as much greenery as possible on east side, narrower green strip residential side.
  • Note trees and root pressure associated with wheelchairs/rollators sidewalk.
  • More parking spaces needed at Eurohal.
  • Include space around Gasunie building when landscaping.
  • Parking on the street or in alongside parking spaces?
  • Explore whether space behind former Schaersvoorde can be used for parking sports fields.
  • Attention to crowded streets (including buses) during soccer games.
  • Can there be a clear bike lane in the greenbelt instead of the combined path?

School

  • Perpendicular parking combined with school-aged cyclists is dangerous.
  • Using Welink forest for pick-up/drop-off is good idea.
  • Clustered crossing from Welink forest to school in green median is good idea.
  • Find solution for parking staff school occupying spots for pick-up/ drop-off of children.
  • Extra attention to intersection Nassaustraat-Europastraat-Berkendijk (end of bicycle street) as an obscure point.

A consultation is scheduled with Traffic Safety, the school and local residents to further discuss the situation around the school.

At the next public participation evening on Nov. 30, the construction team will present the preliminary design.
