Early childhood education, subsidy scheme
What is it?
The municipality of Aalten has established a subsidy scheme for parents who are not entitled to childcare allowance from the tax authorities. You can receive an allowance for childcare costs for regular toddler care or pre-school education (so-called VVE) care for your child, as long as he or she is between 2 and 4 years old and does not yet attend elementary school.
If, according to the youth doctor or the youth nurse, your child qualifies for a so-called VVE indication, you can apply through the childcare organization for the "Subsidy Scheme for Preschool Care and Early Childhood Education in the Municipality of Aalten 2022".
What to do.
If you are entitled to childcare allowance, you can apply for childcare allowance for the first 8 hours of VVE care through the tax authorities. For the hours of preschool education above the first 8 hours up to a maximum of 16 hours, you do not have to pay a parental contribution. These hours are free of charge. No childcare benefit can be requested for these hours.
If you are not entitled to childcare allowance, you pay an income-related parental contribution for the first 8 hours. The hours of pre-school education above the first 8 hours up to a maximum of 16 hours are free of charge. You must submit the 'parent's declaration of no entitlement to childcare benefit' with income details to your childcare organization. You can request the parent statement from your childcare organization or possibly from the municipality.
The child care organization then applies to the municipality for the subsidy for VVE care and deducts it from your invoice. You do not have to do anything yourself.
How long does it take?
Some children have a (risk of) language deficiency at an early age and receive a VVE indication from age 2 at the consultation bureau.
If your child has received a VVE indication from the child health care office, he or she is eligible to follow a pre-school educational program at a VVE-registered child care organization. This VVE program is offered from a minimum of 14 to a maximum of 16 hours per week for 3 or 4 half-days per week spread over at least 2 days for a maximum of 40 weeks (in the case of 16 hours of care per week) or 46 weeks (in the case of 14 hours of care per week) per 12-month period.
