Preliminary draft of the Aalten 2040 Environmental Vision adopted
The Municipal Executive has adopted the preliminary draft for the new Aalten 2040 Environmental Vision. With this preliminary draft, the Municipal Executive has indicated its preferred direction for the further elaboration of the new Environmental Vision. In February, the council will decide whether it agrees with this preferred direction.
Why a new Environmental Vision?
The Environmental Vision is one of the new core instruments of the Omgevingswet. Municipalities are required to draw up an Environmental Vision under the new Omgevingswet before January 1, 2027. This Act has been in force since January 1, 2024, and replaces all laws and regulations relating to housing, spatial planning, infrastructure, the environment, and water.
Why start with a preliminary design?
A preliminary draft of the new Environmental Vision has now been drawn up, in which the municipal executive has expressed its preferred direction, partly based on input from residents. Before the Environmental Vision is further developed, the municipal executive wants to know whether the municipal council agrees with the preliminary draft and the preferred direction indicated therein.
How was the preliminary draft of the new vision developed?
At the end of 2024 and in the first half of 2025, discussions were held with residents in all areas of the municipality of Aalten. Everyone was given the opportunity to contribute their ideas about the future of the physical living environment in the municipality of Aalten. The input provided by residents at that time has been incorporated into the preliminary design.

In February 2026, the municipal council will decide whether it agrees with the direction indicated in the preliminary draft. The preliminary draft will then be further developed in the spring of 2026 into a draft that will be submitted for approval in mid-2026. The draft of the new Environmental Vision will then be made available for public inspection (among other things), so that all residents can once again give their feedback.
