Walk into the Light Aalten 2026
On Tuesday, September 8, the municipality of Aalten, Willem “Hart voor Levensvragen,” the AVA ’70 Track and Field Club, and Figulus Welzijn, in collaboration with the Suicide Prevention Center Foundation, are organizing a “Walk into the Light” event in Aalten.

At first light, we walk together—in silence or in conversation—to reflect on suicidal thoughts and everything related to them: loss, worries, hope, and memories. The walk is open to anyone who is directly or indirectly affected by this issue. Survivors, loved ones, people with personal experiences, professionals, and concerned community members: everyone is welcome.
Program
- 6:00 a.m.: Meet in the cafeteria of the AVA ’70 Track and Field Club at Bredevoortsestraatweg in Aalten.
- 6:15 a.m.: Start of the hike. The route is about 4 kilometers long. Please arrive on time so we can set off together without any rush.
- Around sunrise, we’ll take a moment together for silence and reflection. A moment to remember, to pause, or simply to be present.
- After the walk, there will be a group breakfast. Participation is free. Please let us know in advance if you’ll be joining us for breakfast so we can buy enough food and avoid food waste.
- We’ll wrap up the morning around 8:00–8:30 a.m. Anyone who wants to can head home at their own pace. You’re also more than welcome to stay a little longer for a chat, to connect with others, or just to find a listening ear. Aftercare professionals will be on hand for anyone who needs support or a one-on-one conversation.
