Work on and around former landfill at Anholtseweg in Dinxperlo

Soon the municipality of Aalten will start with raising the living layer on the east side of the former landfill on the Anholtseweg in Dinxperlo. At the same time, the bicycle path at the Brüggenhütte will be extended.
About ten years ago, the municipality cleaned up the former landfill on Anholtseweg. About 100,000 tons of household waste, industrial waste and rubble (from the village that was bombed flat, with which the Holwijkerbeek creek meander was filled in after the war) were rearranged at the large landfill. The landfill was then finished with a living layer; a thick layer of soil on which plants and shrubs grow. During that work, bats were found on the east side of the landfill. As a result, vegetation had to be maintained at that location and only a thin living layer is present.
14,000m3 of soil
Earlier this year, consulting firm Staring conducted research at the site. They have now given the green light to remove the trees and shrubs on the east side, so that the living layer can now be raised. Measures will also be taken to prevent the spread of Japanese knotweed. Approximately 14,000m3 of soil will be needed for the embankment and redevelopment. This soil comes from work elsewhere in the municipality. It will take four years to raise the ground level. The area where the 'Büdeken' and the barrier are located, among others, will be spared during the work; the fill layer will be placed just outside this area. After embankment, the area will be replanted.
Extend bike lane
Anyone who ever cycles near the Brüggenhütte will recognize that the bike path stops very suddenly there. The direct connection to the main road creates unsafe situations. Therefore, during the redesign, the bike path will also be addressed. The bike path will be extended away from the road, so that cyclists can safely continue on their way.
