Bibob Act

The Bibob Act (Wet Bevordering Integriteitsbeoordelingen door het openbaar bestuur) is to prevent the government from facilitating criminal activities. 

In the following cases, you must complete the Bibob application form:

• you are applying for an alcohol license
• you apply for an operating license. This applies to catering establishments, the larger guesthouses and B&Bs, campsites, vacation parks and the so-called 24/7 fitness centers and gyms
• you are applying for a large event or an event with an extra high risk
• You are applying for an environmental permit with a building sum of €500,000 or more

If we have good reason, we also conduct a Bibob investigation in the following cases:

• you are applying for a grant
• you do a real estate transaction with us
• you are participating in a public tender
• in case of illegal construction

The requested information includes the financial situation, business and historical data of the companies you run. If the municipality has real doubts about the completed data or because of the refusal to provide certain data, it may request an opinion from the Bibob Bureau, based in The Hague. This bureau examines the application and issues an opinion to the municipality. The municipality thus has an additional option to refuse the permit(s).
