Housing Policy
The Housing Vision 2021-2026 describes the municipal policy in the field of housing. What do we want with new construction, the existing housing stock and what physical and social tasks do we see. Among other things, the Woonvisie serves as a basis for making performance agreements with De Woonplaats. In addition, the theme "flexibly responding to housing demand" from the Woonvisie is further elaborated in the 2021-2031 Housing Strategy. Both consideration frameworks for additional housing in the cores and for the outlying area are also part of our housing policy and based on the Woonvisie.
Residential Vision
The housing vision of the municipality of Aalten for the period 2021-2026 was adopted by the municipal council on February 23, 2021.
The housing vision has the following themes:
- Flexible response to housing demand
- Towards a sustainable living environment
- Sufficient affordable housing
- Focus on living with Health

Housing Strategy
The housing strategy of the municipality of Aalten for the period 2021–2031 was adopted by the municipal council on November 30, 2021. It provides insight into the housing challenge for the coming years and offers concrete guidelines.
Responding flexibly to housing demand is one of the five programs in the housing vision adopted by the municipality of Aalten for 2021-2026. The strategy elaborates on this and provides a framework within which the municipality of Aalten intends to fulfill its housing construction targets for the coming years.
The strategy is designed to allow us to respond flexibly to housing demand. This means it is possible to scale down or scale up. The target number of homes to be added is only an indication based on the information currently available. An unexpected development (such as COVID-19) could cause a change in housing demand.

Performance agreements
The 2015 Housing Act requires annual performance agreements to be made with De Woonplaats and the tenant associations.
