Six Nominees for the 2026 Aalten Municipality Heritage Award

About the Heritage Award
The Heritage Award is presented annually to an individual, organization, or association that, on its own initiative and with great dedication and/or financial contribution, has restored or commissioned the restoration of a structure of historical value. Carrying out major overdue maintenance that has prevented imminent deterioration is also eligible for the award. In addition, individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution to the heritage of the municipality of Aalten in a broad sense may be nominated. The award consists of a cash prize of €250 and a work of art valued at €350 that relates to the building or area for which the winner has shown dedication.
Heritage Award ceremony
One of the nominees will win the 2026 Aalten Municipality Heritage Award. The winner will be announced on Thursday evening, September 3, during a festive gathering for invited guests and interested members of the public at the Koppelkerk in Bredevoort.
Open Monument Day
The annual Open Monument Days will take place on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13. During these days, monuments throughout the country will be open to the public and free to visit. This year’s theme is “Resilient Heritage in Times of Uncertainty.” In the municipality of Aalten, monument owners will also be opening the doors to their monuments. The program will be announced in August.
